About The Band
CARSON - IZZY - AVA - KATIE
Been There Done That, BTDT for short, first embarked on their musical voyage of discovery together as a cohesive Rock Band in 2016. But their origin goes back earlier to when the band members grew up listening to a variety of music genres that played an influential role in shaping their paths as musicians and ultimately led them together. As BTDT, they have collectively found their signature sound, and offer something different and unique to their fans by creating and sharing original music they are proud to call their own. Band Members
AVA
Lead Singer | Rhythm Guitar

Ava Layn is the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for BTDT. She has been singing since she could talk and writing music for over a decade. She also has been taking guitar lessons for 15+ years. Ava takes inspiration for BTDT’s songs from personal experience, other works of literature, as well as from artists like Stevie Nicks, Lizzy McAlpine, Bad Suns, and Ben Howard. When not working on music or studying, you can find her scoping out the best coffee shops in Nashville and hanging out with family/friends (and her dogs) back in Iowa. She is currently majoring in Songwriting at Belmont University in Nashville and hopes to become a staff writer or artist/songwriter after graduation (unless BTDT becomes famous, that is). Her favorite part of BTDT is interacting with the fans after shows. Seeing a female-fronted band has inspired more people than she ever thought possible and she loves hearing about any impact BTDT has made on someone’s life.
KATIE
Lead Guitarist
Katie is the lead guitarist in BTDT and has been with the band since she was 12. She’s been taking guitar lessons at QC Rock Academy, where the band was formed, since she was 11. On stage you will see her rocking out on her candy apple red Fender Strat! Aside from music, Katie has always had a passion for science, especially chemistry. She is currently studying chemical engineering at Iowa State University. At school, she keeps herself busy with studying, hanging out with friends, along with various clubs and extracurriculars.
One of Katie’s favorite parts of playing in BTDT is being on stage! She loves dancing and goofing around on stage in front of an awesome crowd. Her favorite show that BTDT has played to date was opening for The Pork Tornadoes at the Rust Belt in East Moline. The Rust Belt was a bucket-list venue for BTDT, and overall it was a very special night.
IZZY
Bassist | Vocals
Izzy is the bassist and backup vocalist in BTDT. Starting off taking violin lessons and playing in her school orchestra, she found her passion for playing music. Seeing her older brother playing guitar, at age 12 she decided she wanted to learn the bass guitar. Izzy has always loved music and has now been to over 60 concerts. Those include her favorites, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Alice Cooper, and Ghost. If Izzy’s not playing music, you’ll probably find her at a concert or shopping at thrift stores. She is currently studying at Belmont University working towards a bachelors in Audio Engineering Technology. Izzy’s favorite parts of playing in BTDT are writing music and being in the recording studio. In Blame the Stars you can hear Izzy play bass, the keyboard, and also singing harmonies. Music is her true passion and hopes to do it for the rest of her life.
CARSON
Drummer | Vocals
Carson is the drummer and newest member of BTDT! He is beginning his studies at Belmont University working towards a bachelors in Audio Engineering Technology. Carson has been playing the drums for roughly 7 years in various bands and groups around the quad city area. He performed for many years as a part of the Sherrard marching band, is a former all-state conference jazz musician, and has been a part of a musical production at the Spotlight Theatre.
Carson enjoys listening to all styles of music
and takes great inspiration from the drumming of John Bonham, Alex Van Halen, Taylor Hawkins, Rodger Taylor, George Daniels, and Sarah Jones. Some of his favorite artists include Queen, Foo Fighters, Metallica, John Mayer, Dua Lipa, Harry Styles, Charlie Puth, Billie Eilish, Beabadoobee, and his favorite, The 1975.
Carson’s favorite part of being in btdt is the awesome places they get to perform at and the great bands they get to play with, as well as hanging out with the girls both on and off stage. Outside of BTDT, Carson enjoys playing the guitar, writing and producing music, watching movies, and cheering on the varsity basketball team at home games.
